SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word softball team hosts Houston Baptist University (HBU) in a three-game Southland Conference (SLC) series on Friday, April 8 at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m., and Saturday, April 9 at 12:30 p.m., at H-E-B Field.

UIW HIGHLIGHTS

• Teanna Lucio, Maddie Boldt and Ryleigh Mata lead the SLC with two triples each.
• Boldt's nine home runs place her first in the SLC.
• In the circle for the Cardinals, Ashley Trapp's 63 strikeouts rank fifth best in the SLC.

UIW

• The Cardinals are 11-24 overall and 6-10 at H-E-B Field.
• UIW is fourth in the SLC with a 2-4 record.
• Mata leads the Cardinals with a .395 batting average and 45 hits.
• Avalon Sanchez has registered 27 RBIs to lead the offense this season.

HBU

• The Huskies head to San Antonio with a 10-18 overall record and a 2-6 road mark.
• HBU is sitting at seventh in the SLC with an 0-2 record.
• Shelby Echols leads the offense with a .482 batting average.
• Caitlyn Brockway has knocked the most home runs (five) this season for HBU.
