CONROE, Texas – Ellen Nicholas, of the University of the Incarnate Word women's golf team, shot a two-under-par in the final round of the Southland Conference Championship to clinch the individual title on Wednesday at the Panorama Golf Club. As a team, the Cardinals finished second, marking the highest placing in UIW Division I history.
Nicholas is the first individual champion in UIW's Division I history and will advance to the NCAA Regional Tournament with today's win. She shot a 218 through three rounds to claim her fifth victory of the season; the round of 70 was also the tournament-low round.
Estefania Hurtado and
Hannah Cash (235) tied for tenth place, while
Lily Hirst shared twelfth to contribute to the Cardinals 922 three-round total. This is the lowest three-round team score the Cardinals have had in a Southland Conference Championship.
