SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word softball program heads to El Paso, Texas, for a weekend series against the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). Saturday, March 5, consists of a doubleheader at 4 p.m. CT with the second game starting at 6 p.m. The series will conclude on Sunday, March 6, at noon.

LAST TIME THEY MET
The Cardinals and Miners last faced on March 5, 2021, when UIW fell 4-2.
Kendall McGary hit a sacrifice fly to left field to bring in the first run. McGary then scored on an error by the Miners.
KEYNOTES
- UTEP leads the series history 7-2, with a 5-2 record at the Helen of Troy Softball Complex.
- The largest margin of victory for the Cardinals was a 5-2 win in 2017 in San Antonio.
UIW HIGHLIGHTS
- Maddie Boldt leads the Cardinals with seven home runs on the season. This places her tied for sixth in the nation in that category.
- Four Cardinals – Ryleigh Mata (.417), Teanna Lucio (.333), Savannah Behabetz (.320), and Boldt (.302) – are all hitting above .300.
- Boldt also has a .860 slugging percentage
SCOUTING UTEP
- The Miners are 7-10 overall with a 4-2 record at home. They are coming off a five-inning, 19-3, loss against New Mexico State University.
- Lexi Morales and Pate Cathey lead the Miners with 15 hits each so far this season. Kaylin Jackson has registered three home runs for UTEP.
