SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word softball team hosts a three-game series against Nicholls State University for its first Southland Conference (SLC) weekend of the 2022 season. Day one consists of a doubleheader with the first pitch scheduled for Friday, March 25, at 4 p.m. CT.

UIW HIGHLIGHTS
- The Cardinals registered their first walk-off win of the season against Texas Southern University.
- Ryleigh Mata's batting average (.435) and hits (37) both rank second in the SLC.
- Four Cardinals have registered a triple this season: Teanna Lucio, Maddie Boldt, Savannah Behabetz and Mata.
- Boldt (nine) and Avalon Sanchez (seven) lead the league in home runs.
- Ashley Trapp's 46 strikeouts on the season place her at fifth in the SLC.
UIW
- UIW is coming off a 4-3 walk-off win against Texas Southern University.
- Julia Cordon led the Cardinals to victory with an RBI single to center field.
- UIW heads to conference play with an 8-19 record and a 4-9 mark at home.
NICHOLLS
- The Colonels fell to LSU 12-0 in five innings. They head to conference play with an 8-18 record and a 2-6 road mark.
- Melise Gossen leads Nicholls with 27 hits on the season
- Alexa Poce' has hit six home runs for the Colonels.
- Brittany Turner leads the way in the circle for Nicholls with a 6.71 ERA and 35 strikeouts.
