Cross Country Heads to NCAA South Central Regional Championship

SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word men's and women's cross country teams travel to College Station for the NCAA South Central Regional Championship meet on Friday, November 11, 2022. The meet will begin with the women's 6k at 8:30 a.m. The men follow behind with a 9:30 am CT start.

FOLLOW ALONG

The women are coming off of a third-place team finish in the Southland Conference Championships where six student-athletes qualified for the South Central Regional Championship. The Cardinals are led by freshman, Joy Gill, who not only placed first overall at the Southland land Conference Championship, but also was named Southland Conference Freshman of the Year, Athlete of the Year, and placed on the all-conference first team. Along with Joy, Andrea Acuna, Ashlyn Royal, Danielle Salinas, Sabrina Goains and Alyssa Pena will travel to College Station to compete for the Cardinals.

After winning the Southland Conference Championship title, the UIW men's cross country team will be sending seven student-athletes to compete in the Regional. Most notably, fifth-place finisher Griffin Neal and seventh-place finisher Christopher Daniels will be running for the Cardinals on Friday. Alex Fetizon, Ryan Garza, Jett Montes, Matthew Hernandez and Kevin Hernandez will round out the UIW roster in the biggest meet of their season so far.
