SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word softball team has set its 2022 schedule, announced head coach Kimberly Dean on Friday. The Cardinals begin play on Feb. 10-13 when they host Prairie View A&M, Cleveland State, and the University of Wisconsin Green Bay in the UIW Tournament.
 
"I can't wait to get started," said Dean, who is in her first year leading the Cardinals. "We put together a schedule that is tough but will provide us many opportunities to learn, grow, and, more importantly, build confidence in our preparation for conference. I truly am so excited to see this group put all the details together and become closer as a family. There are so many things to look forward to and to be excited about! Expect big things from us this year!"
 
The Cardinals host 12 of their 22 non-conference games. They face a challenging slate that includes road matchups against Texas Tech University, Texas A&M University and Baylor University.
 
UIW will host three of its six Southland Conference opponents this season. Conference play begins with a doubleheader on March 25 when the Cardinals host Nicholls in their three-game series. UIW also welcomes Houston Baptist to H-E-B Field on April 8-9 before closing out league play when it hosts Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in a two-day series beginning with a doubleheader on May 6.
 
UIW also travels to Southeastern Louisiana University (April 1), Northwestern State University (April 22), and McNeese State University (April 29) for three-game conference matchups. The Southland Conference Tournament is scheduled for May 10 in Hammond, Louisiana.
 
Season tickets for the 2022 softball season are on sale now and can be purchased on the UIW Tickets website. Season tickets are priced at $100 per person, more than a 50% savings from the regular ticket price.
 
Fan are encouraged to enhance the game day experience by joining the Cardinals Club. Join the Cardinals Club at $250 or more and designate softball as the primary sport to receive access to a special VIP hospitality area. The VIP hospitality area consists of the following:

• Complimentary food vouchers to be used at the Just Smash'em concession stand. Food options include:
  • Hot dog and kettle chips
  • Sausage on a bun with kettle chips
  • Vegan sausage with kettle chips
• Drink service consisting of bottled water, soda, beer and wine

 
All active duty and retired military personnel can receive up to four free tickets per game as part of UIW's partnership with Grunt Style.
