SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word men's basketball team fell to McNeese State University (MSU), 82-72, on Saturday afternoon at the McDermott Center.
Charlie Yoder led the Cardinal offense with a season-high 25-point performance.
Bradley Akhile followed with a season-best 15 points.
The Cowboys came out in a fast-paced offensive scheme to take a quick 14-2 lead over the Cardinals.
Charlie Yoder's 10 points in the first half led UIW, but McNeese had two student-athletes in double digits at the break to give them a 49-28 advantage.
Akhile's 12 second-half points led UIW as they pushed through the tough MSU defense to spark a scoring run. Trailing by 23 points with 15:43 remaining, the Cardinals fought hard and came within five points (74-69) with just over four minutes left in the game. UIW kept battling, but the Cowboys took off on the offensive end and secured the victory, 82-72.

The Cardinals begin their two-game road series in Louisiana when they travel to Natchitoches, Louisiana, to face Northwestern State University on Thursday, Jan. 27. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CT.
