SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word softball team hosts Tarleton State at home before hitting the road to continue conference play this weekend. First pitch is slated for 2 p.m. (CT).
FOLLOW THE GAME
BATTER UP
- As a team, the Cardinals are hitting .176 while limiting opponents to a .295 batting average.
- Three UIW starters are hitting above .200; Tori Alvarez-Lopez (.238), Maddie Boldt (.237), and Savannah Behabetz (.200).
- Alvarez-Lopez leads the team with 10 hits and one double.
IN THE CIRCLE
- Annie Gunther leads the Cardinals with a 2.87 ERA and has thrown three complete games. Overall, she has a 1-5 record with 25 strikeouts.
- Madison Floyd and Natalie Myers have also contributed significant innings for the Cardinals' pitching staff this season. Floyd has kept opponents to a .302 batting average while Myers has struck out 11 batters in 21 innings.
SCOUTING TARLETON
- The Texans are 11-17 overall with a 3-9 record on the road this season.
- Their last outing was against Texas Tech where they lost, 9-1, in six innings.
- Tarleton has three student-athletes hitting above .300 led by Katy Schaefer, who has 29 hits and a .363 batting average. She has 18 RBIs, five doubles, and four homeruns.
UP NEXT
UIW will hit the road to compete against Southland Conference foe, Nicholls in Thibodaux, La. First pitch will be at 5:00 p.m. CT on Friday night.
