SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word softball team returns home following a weekend on the road to host the University of Houston-Victoria in double-header action on Tuesday night at H-E-B Field. First pitch is slated for 2 p.m. (CT).

IN THE CIRCLE
- Madison Floyd leads the Cardinals with a 3.15 ERA and has only allowed six hits from the circle. Overall, she has a 0-1 record in two appearances. (any strikeouts to note?)
- Annie Gunther and Natalie Myers have also contributed significant innings for the Cardinals' pitching staff so far this season. Gunther has allowed six hits in five innings for a 7.0 ERA and Myers has allowed seven hits in six innings for a 3.5 ERA.
SCOUTING U of H-Victoria
- The Jaguars are 3-5 overall with a 2-2 record on the road this season.
- Their last outing was against Southland Conference member, Houston Baptist where they went 0-2, losing both games by a score of 5-0.
- The Jaguars have six student-athletes hitting above .300 led by Kaylle Acosta, who has 10 hits and a .345 batting average. She also leads the team with 11 RBIs, while chipping in two doubles.
UP NEXT
UIW will hit the road once again to compete in the Orange and Blue Classic hosted by the University of Texas-El Paso.
The Cardinals will play Arizona State (12:30 p.m.) and UTEP (5:30 p.m.) on Friday afternoon, March 5. UIW will complete the tournament with games against Montana (10:00 a.m.) and Arizona State (12:30 p.m.) on Saturday afternoon, March 6.
