UIW football adds four on signing day

SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word football team added four to its 2021 signing class on Wednesday, Feb. 5, announced head coach Eric Morris. Combined with the 13 signees inked in December, the Cardinals added 17 to the roster. 
 
Brian Mayes | CB | 6-1 | 175 lbs 
High School  
Played at Heights High School under Stephen Dixon Sr.… averaged 3.5 tackles per game… had over 60 tackles and four interceptions in his prep career, which helped boost team to playoff appearances several times.

"Mayes is an athletic corner that will come in and make a lasting impact on our program. He has the ability to be a lock down defender." 
 
Jimeto Obigbo | OL | 6-4 | 320 lbs 
High School  
Played at Mansfield Timberview High School under James Brown… awarded all-district offensive tackle… never gave up a sack in high school career, which helped lead team to a deep playoff run. 
 
Personal  
Started playing football at the age of seven… parents are Winnie and Louis Obigbo… has two siblings, Emeka and Ebele Obigbo… decided on UIW because of the winning culture he felt when talking with the coaches and because of the educational experiences that he would be provided… undecided in his major but wants to become an orthopedic surgeon once he finishes his football career.

Dayton Robinson | OL | 6-5 | 315 lbs  
High School  
Played at Mansfield Timberview High School under Guy Humes… was honorable mention and gave up fewer than five sacks entire high school career, which helped guide team to a deep playoff run as a senior. 
 
Personal 
Started playing football at the age of seven… parents are Michelle and Ronald Williams… has three siblings… majoring in business and hopes to one day have own barbershop and be a successful business owner.

Dorion Strawn | OL | 6-6 | 320 lbs 
High School 
Played at Ennis High School under Sam Harrell… made the all-state team as a junior year and all-district team both junior and senior year… helped lead team to multiple deep playoff runs. 
 
Personal  
Started playing football at the age of four… parents are Sherry Burley-Strawn and Douglas Strawn… has three older siblings… decided on UIW because of the family atmosphere he felt from both the campus and the team/coaches… majoring in graphic design and hopes to one day start a graphic design company.
