SAN ANTONIO – University of the Incarnate Word men's basketball team host Concordia University Texas (CTX) on Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m. at McDermott Convocation center.

- This will be the first time these two programs meet
UIW
- Is coming off a loss to Baylor University on Friday, November 12
- UIW came out strong to take the lead three different times in the first half against Baylor.
- After being down 4-0, Benjamin Griscti put the Cardinals on the board with a pull up jumper from the top of the key.
- The Cardinals then went on a 3-0 scoring run to tie the game at six when Lutz was fouled driving to the basket, securing both free throws.
- Lutz and Glasper hit back-to-back three-pointers to double their lead, 12-6.
- Glasper then fought for the defensive rebound and went cross-court for the layup to put the Cardinals up 16-10. The Bears went on their own scoring run to take back the lead, 21-19.
- The Cardinals battled back to come within two pints before Baylor took over to end the half 40-28.
CTX
- This is the first game for Concordia University Texas
- Last season, the Tornados finished 5-6 overall and 4-6 in the American Southwest Conference (ASC)
- CTX finished fourth in the ASC before having their season ended due to COVID related concerns
- CTX was projected to finish seventh of 11 teams in the ASC, with three student-athletes placed on the ASC Preseason Watch List. (Antoine Henderson, Luis Gonzalez and Trevon Hester)
PLAYERS TO WATCH
- UIW's Josh Morgan has led the Cardinal offense in the opening week of the 2021-22 season. Morgan had 16 points against Texas State and 17 points against Baylor
- UIW's offense has also been sparked by Drew Lutz. Lutz had nine points against the Bobcats and 12 points against the Bears.
- UIW's Griscti, Johnny Hughes III and Bradley Akhile have all registered a block so far this season.
- CTX's Antoine Henderson ended the 2020-21 season with 159 points, 16 blocks, 34 offensive rebounds and 29 defensive rebounds.
- CTX's Luis Gonzalez ended the 2020-21 season with 134 points, 15 assists, 14 offensive rebounds and 24 defensive rebounds.
- CTX's Trevon Hester ended the 2020-21 season with 128 points, 20 defensive rebounds, seven offensive rebounds and 47 assists.
