UIW Travels to Thibodaux, Louisiana

SAN ANTONIO – University of the Incarnate Word travels to Thibodaux, Louisiana to face Nicholls for the second time this season. Kick-off is set for Saturday, November 13 at 3 p.m. in an ESPN+ televised game. 
 
FOLLOW THE GAME   
THE LAST TIME THEY MET 
  • The Cardinals and Colonels previously met just under a month ago on October 16. 
  • Taylor Grimes broke the program record for most receiving touchdowns in a single game, with four. 
  • Grimes completed 182 receiving yards for four touchdowns, breaking his single game receiving touchdown record for the Cardinals. 
  • Cameron Ward passed for 388 yards, making it his fourth game in a row completing 300 plus yards. Ward also advanced to the second in UIW program history to register 40 career touchdowns. 
  • Kevin Brown rushed for 80 yards and one touchdown.
  • Kelechi Anyalebechi led the Cardinal defense with 12 total tackles bringing his season total to 64. 
 
UIW 
  • Is coming off a 55-52 victory against, then ranked six, Southeastern Louisiana.
  • After this victory the Cardinals improved to ranked 16 by FCS Stats Perform from their pervious ranking of 22.  
  • The victory against the Lions made head coach Eric Morris the winningest coach in UIW program history. 
  • This also secured an undefeated home record for the Cardinals this season. 
  • Ward played at a veteran level totaling 610 passing yards, which is the first time a Cardinal has thrown for 600+ yards in a single game. Ward had a historic night breaking the individual season record for passing yards in UIW program history, now holding 3,417 total passing yards. 
  • Grimes broke the single game receiving yards ended the day with a season high of 193 receiving yards on 12 attempts. He also had a season six-yard passing touchdown. 
  • Brown had a season long 80-yard receiving touchdown.
  • Kaleb Culp led the Cardinal defense with a season high 14 total tackles. 
  • The Cardinals look to continue their two-game winning streak and end the Colonels three game winning streak on Saturday. 
 
NICH
  • Is coming off a 24-14 win against Southland Conference foe, McNeese on Saturday, November 6. 
  • The Colonels completed 180 rushing yards, 187 receiving yards and 187 passing yards in their victory against the Cowboys. 
  • Nicholls is 27-41 in red zone conversions for a touchdown. 
  • The Colonels have improved to 5-4 overall and 4-2 in Southland Conference play. 
  • On the season, Nicholls has rushed for 2,202 yards for 19 touchdowns, passed for 2,176 yards for 18 touchdowns and have a 44.95 third down completion percentage. 
 
PLAYERS TO WATCH 
  • UIW's quarterback Ward has completed 266 passes for 3,417 yards on 33 touchdowns. Ranking third by the NCCA FCS for completions per game, fifth for passing yards, second for passing touchdowns and eight in pass efficiency. 
  • Nicholls' quarterback Lindsey Scott Jr. has completed 152 passes for 1,933 yards on 16 touchdowns, this ranks Scott Jr. 30 by the NCAA FCS for passing yards. 
  • UIW's Brown leads the Cardinals in rushing yards with 623 and eight touchdowns.
  • Cooper follows closely behind with 411 yards and six touchdowns. 
  • Nicholls' Scott Jr. also leads the Colonels in rushing yards totaling 917 yards on nine touchdowns 
  • Nicholls' Collin Guggenheim follows with 523 yards for six touchdowns 
  • UIW's Grimes leads the Cardinals in receiving yards with 905 and 11 touchdowns on the season. Grimes ranks eight by the NCAA FCS for receiving yards on the season. 
  • Robert Ferrel follows closely behind with 535 and seven touchdowns. 
  • Darion Chafin has also been an explosive part of the Cardinal offense totaling 497 yards and six touchdowns. 
  • Nicholls' Dai'Jean Dixon leads the Colonels in receiving yards with 912 yards for eight touchdowns. Dixon ranks right above Grimes at number seven by the NCAA for most receiving yards this season. 
  • K.J. Franklin follows with 459 yards for five touchdowns. 
  • UIW's Anyalebechi continues to lead the Cardinal defense with 97 total tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, two interceptions, three pass break ups and three quarterback hurries. 
  • Anyalebechi ranks fourth by the NCAA FCS for total tackles on the season. 
  • Nicholl's Ty'Ree Evans leads the Colonel defense with 53 total tackles, six tackles for loss, one sack and two quarterback hurries.
