Synchro adds five to 2020-21 roster

SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word synchronized swimming team has five incoming student-athletes, announced head coach Elizabeth Gerdin. Erandi Aguirre, Mire Martin-Mora, Yvette Pinter, Anastasia Roque and Megan Tromp are set to join the Cardinals in the fall.
 
"This incoming class is very unique, and I am excited for what they will bring to the Cardinal family," said Gerdin. "Each one of the incoming freshmen brings incredible world stage experience, and they have represented their respective countries well. These young women will prove to make a mark on Cardinal history."
 
Erandi Aguirre | Mexico City, Mexico | Universidad CNCI
Major: psychology
Aguirre is a four- time Junior National Team member for Mexico. She served as a flyer and was team captain her final year. Aguirre was a finalist in two FINA Jr World Championships – Kazan, Russia (2016) and Budapest, Hungary (2018) – in the combined routine and the team events. Additionally, Aguirre was a Pan-American UANA medalist in team, combination and duet events in Calgary (Alberta), Canada (2016), San Juan, Puerto Rico, (2016); Santiago de Chile (2017) and Windsor (Ontario), Canada (2019).

Mire Martin-Mora | Barcelona, Spain | IES Joaquim Blume
Major: international business; minor: marketing, sports management
Martin-Mora is a national champion in Spain and was a member of Spain's Junior National Team, winning several medals during her time with the team. During the 2019 season she represented both her club and Spain at several prestigious competitions. Martin-Mora won gold in free team at nationals, and silver in tech and combo. Representing Spain at the Swiss Open in tech and free team she won gold and earned silver in combination at the European Junior Championship, beating out Ukraine. During both 2017 and 2018, Martin-Mora won combination, teach and free team in the Infantas Open with her club.

Yvette Pinter | Muckendorf, Austria | Liese Prokop Privatschule
Major: biology; Minor: pre-med
Pinter was a member of the Austrian National Team from 2013-20. She was the Austrian National Champion in solo (junior category) in both 2017 and 2018. Pinter was also a finalist at the European Junior Championships in 2016, 2017 and 2018 in team, duet and solo events. Pinter competed at the FINA Junior World Championships in Budapest in 2018, placing 14th in duet and 15th in solo. She was also a finalist at the European Championships in Glasgow (2018) in team and combination events.

Anastasia Roque | Maracaibo, Venezuela | Virgen del Rosario high school
Major: nutrition
Roque has won numerous accolades during her career. She competed for the Venezuelan National Team from 2012-18, and she was the national champion in solo each of those years as well. She also finished third in tech and free team at the Central American Games in Barranquilla (2018) and second in the same events at the Bolivarian Games in Santa Marta (2017). In 2016, Roque was first place in 13-15 solo and figures at the CCCAN Panama, as well as sixth in 13-15 figures and solo at the UANA Pan American Championships in San Juan. In 2015, she was third in 13-15 solo at the South American Championships in Peru.

Meghan Tromp | Aruba | Colegio Arubano
Major: accounting
Tromp represented Aruba as both a junior and senior athlete. In 2020, she competed at the French Open representing Aruba, and she placed first in duet and team at the NS Provincials in Alberta, Canada. In 2018, Tromp competed at the FINA Junior World Championships in Budapest representing her country in the duet category.
