FRISCO, Texas – University of the Incarnate Word women's golfer Lauren Mancha was named the February Women's Golfer of the Month, the Southland Conference office announced Wednesday. Mancha won her first individual championship at the Islander Classic on Feb. 23-24.
 
"Lauren is finally playing to her potential," said UIW head coach Allison Howarth. "She has given many hours to this team and program, and we are extremely happy that she can now say she has won a college golf tournament. She's been an incredible teammate and we are proud to coach her."
 
This is Mancha's first career tournament win. She finished with a 218 (+2) overall score, one stroke ahead of the runner-up. Mancha carded a 69 (-3) in the second round, highlighted by an eagle on the second hole to close out round two. She recorded 11 birdies and an eagle throughout the 54-hole tournament.
 
Mancha's performance during UIW's only competition in February guided the UIW women's golf team to a third-place finish in the 14-team field at the Corpus Christi Country Club. This marked the team's best finish thus far during the 2019-20 season.
