GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- The University of the Incarnate Word synchronized swimming team opens the 2020 season on Saturday and Sunday, facing the University of Florida and Stanford. Competition begins each day with warmups at 8 a.m. CT.
NOTABLES
- UIW synchro welcomed 10 freshmen to the nest to compete for the 2020 season after graduating six seniors in the 2018-19 season.
- The Cardinals took fourth overall at the 2019 US Collegiate National Championships, a meet UIW hosted at the Palo Alto Natatorium.
- Rebecca Barlow was the event champion in the "B" Technical Element Category (73.9184 points).
- Six Cardinals were named to the 2019 US Collegiate All-American team (Juliana Damico, Camille Guerre, Natalie LaGrone, Alexandra McGee, Sarah Rodriguez and Madeline Walker-Byron).
- 12 Cardinals received accolades for their academic prowess by being named to the 2019 USSS Collegiate Academic All-American team (Armstrong-Vanlaar, Barlow, Catharino-Soares, Damico, Guerre, Jaumandreu, McGee, Rein, Rodriguez, Rosolowski, Ulmer and Walker-Byron).
