CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Lauren Mancha was the individual champion at the Islander Classic on Tuesday, guiding the University of the Incarnate Word women's golf team to a third-place finish in the 14-team field at the Corpus Christi Country Club.
NOTABLES
- This is Mancha's first career tournament win.
- Mancha finished with a 218 (+2) overall score, one stroke ahead of the runner-up.
- Mancha carded a 3-under-69 second round, highlighted by an eagle on the par-5 No. 2 to close out round two.
- Mancha recorded 11 birdies and an eagle throughout the 54-hole tournament.
- This is the highest finish for the Cardinals during the 2019-20 season; they finished with a score of 900 (299+308+293), improving by an impressive 15 strokes on the final round.
- Ellen Nicholas had her top round on Tuesday, shooting a team-best 68 (-4). She finished fifth – up 10 spots from day one – with an overall score of 221 (72+68+68).
- Nicholas carded eight birdies at the Islander Classic, five of which occurred in the final round alone.
