SAN ANTONIO -- The University of the Incarnate Word baseball team dropped a 6-4 decision against UTSA on Tuesday night at Roadrunner Field.
NOTABLES
- Ryan Gonzalez led the Cardinals with a 3-for-4 outing, including two runs, a RBI, a double and a home run.
- Aaron Celestino (6-4) suffered the loss, striking out two in 1.1 innings pitched.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Roadrunners scattered five runs across the first and second innings to take a 5-0 lead. After a scoreless third inning, UTSA plated a run in the fourth to extend its advantage to 6-0.
The Cardinals got on the board in the fifth inning when
Lee Thomas hit a two-run home run off the scoreboard in left center field. After a scoreless sixth frame, the Cardinals added two runs in the top of the seventh on a R. Gonzalez solo home run and a
Sean Arnold RBI sacrifice fly to make the score 6-4, in favor of UTSA.
UIW kept battling, but the Roadrunners went on secure the 6-4 decision over the Cardinals.
