THE OPENING PITCH
The Cardinals (4-36, 2-19 SLC) are looking to get back in the win column Tuesday against the Roadrunners (17-26, 6-12 C-USA), who are 6-3 in their last three series. UIW will then head to College Station for a doubleheader with Texas A&M (25-21, 3-15 SEC) on Wednesday.

HOPE'S HEATING UP
  • Senior first baseman Hope Sobolewski has been a regular on the base paths of late, reaching base in four straight games and putting together a two-game hitting streak
  • She leads the team with eight multiple hit games (including two 4-hit games) and three multi-RBI games
  • Sobolewski is putting together a great senior campaign, leading all qualified hitters on the team in batting average (.276) slugging percentage (.500) on-base percentage (.349), doubles (five) and home runs (five).
  • In the month of April, Sobolewski is batting .346 with two doubles, two grand slams and 10 RBIs.

ANGEL OVER THE OUTFIELD
  • Senior shortstop Angel Villanueva put together the best performance of her career on Thursday against Houston Baptist, going 2-3 with two home runs and six RBIs.
  • It was the first multi-home run game of her career, and it placed her second on the team in home runs this season with four.
  • She's also third on the team in multi-hit games (five) and RBIs (11).
  • The senior has some wheels, too: she leads the team with 10 stolen bases and 15 runs scored.

JENNA FROM THE BLOCK
  • Jenna Bleiberg has been seeing the ball well over the past couple of weeks, batting .333 with a home run, an RBI and three runs scored dating back to 4/12.
  • The sophomore catcher is third on on team among qualified hitters in batting average at .219 in 37 appearances this year.
  • A patient hitter, Bleiberg is tied for second on the team in walks with nine.

SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION
UTSA
Junior outfielder Bailee Baldwin is one of the biggest threats at the plate in the Conference USA, currently batting .314 with eight doubles, five triples, nine home runs and 33 RBIs. In the circle, the Roadrunners are led by Madison Nelson, who is 7-13 with a 4.58 ERA and 38 strikeouts through 125.2 innings of work. The Roadrunners are sitting at fifth in the C-USA West standings.

TEXAS A&M
The Aggies have one of the more versatile players in the country in Payton McBride, who leads the team in batting average (.353) and RBIs (28), while also serving as a regular starter in the circle. In 22 appearances, she's posted a 4.02 ERA with 53 strikeouts, both of which are good for second on the team. Kendall Potts is the Aggies' primary starter, who boasts a 10-10 record with a 3.49 ERA and 63 strikeouts. Battling a six-game losing streak, Texas A&M is currently in last place in the highly competitive SEC standings.
