SAN ANTONIO -- The University of the Incarnate Word softball team is back home this week for a conference series against the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks. First pitch for the opening game is set for 12 p.m. (CT) on Friday, with the second game starting at approximately 2 p.m. and the series finale beginning Saturday at noon.

THE OPENING PITCH
The Cardinals (4-30, 2-13 SLC) are looking to get back on track with a series win against the Ladyjacks (24-16, 9-6 SLC), who have won five of their last seven contests.

FLORES FLOURISHES

• Senior outfielder Monica Flores is seeing the ball well of late, reaching base at least twice in four of her last five games.
• She's batting .416 in those games with a double, a home run, two walks, three RBIs and a run scored.
• In Tuesday's game against Nicholls, Flores became the fourth Cardinal to post a three-RBI game this season, going 2-3 that game with a home run.

TEANNA TIME

• Sophomore outfielder Teanna Lucio is riding a three-game hitting streak heading into this weekend's series, the longest active streak on the team.
• She's recorded two or more hits in five out of the last six games as she has settled into her role as one of the most consistent hitters on the team.
• Over the past six games, Lucio is batting .524 (11-21) with a walk, an RBI and eight runs scored. She's now second on the team in multiple-hit games with seven.

HOPE HEATING UP

• Senior first baseman Hope Sobolewski became the first player in Cardinal history to hit two grand slams in a single game in last weekend's series against Southeastern Louisiana.
• Sobolewski finished the series 6-8 with two grand slams, nine RBIs, and two runs scored in an outstanding performance.
• She's now leading the team in batting average (.294), doubles (four), home runs (five), RBIs (20), on-base percentage (.355) and slugging percentage (.541).

SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION
Stephen F. Austin enters the series sixth in the SLC standings and winners of two straight. The Ladyjacks have three hitters batting over .300 in league play, with Margarita Corona leading the way at .341 with three doubles, four home runs and 11 RBIs. The Ladyjacks' ace is Kassidy Wilbur, who's had a terrific start to conference play with a 1.53 ERA and 84 strikeouts in just 12 appearances.
