HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1 (16-25) | UIW started with a kill from freshman
Emily Perez, but Tulane took a quick lead and went on to secure a win in the first set. Lockley had a team-high three kills.
Â
SET 2 (21-25) | The Cardinals battled in a second set that featured nine ties and six lead changes. With the score even at 13-13, Tulane used back-to-back points to swing momentum in their favor, eventually taking a 24-17 advantage. UIW cut into the lead with four consecutive points, but the rally fell short as the home team took the set victory and 2-0 match lead.
Â
SET 3 (15-25) | Tulane jumped out to an early lead and never trailed en route to a set-three win. Lockley led the Cardinals with three kills.
HEAR FROM HEAD COACH SAMANTHA DABBS
"Our team got better this weekend. We still have a lot of work to do, but it's a process and this team knows that. We want to be playing our best volleyball come November and pre-conference play is the time to expose all our weaknesses. The freshmen are doing a great job stepping up into big roles. Being a young team is no excuse though, and our upperclassmen know that. Autumn made all-tournament and led our team all weekend. I'm really excited about this season and the things to come."
