SAN MARCOS, Texas -- The University of the Incarnate Word volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to James Madison on Friday morning in its opening game of the Creeds & Crests Classic at the Strahan Arena.

Kendall Kilchrist had 10 assists against the Dukes, marking her fourth consecutive match with double-digit assists.

HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1 (15-25) | James Madison jumped out to an early lead and never trailed en route to a 25-15 set one win. Freshman
Bethany Clapp led the Cardinals with five kills, while Kilchrist had four digs.

SET 2 (21-25) | The Dukes again took an early advantage, eventually holding a 24-17 lead. The Cardinals scored four-straight points to cut into the lead, but the rally fell short as JMU took the 2-0 match lead. Senior
Autumn Lockley led UIW with six kills and chipped in six digs.

SET 3 (19-25) | Set three featured six ties and three lead changes as the Cardinals found a rhythm. JMU broke open a 15-15 tie, however, and went on to secure the 3-0 match victory. Clapp registered four kills.

"This morning's match was a tough one for us. JMU has great size and is all around a great team. They challenged us a lot in the middle. Our team is focusing more on worrying about themselves first and doing their jobs. Once we do that every play, we will be able to turn things around in our favor.
