Quotes
Head Coach Dr. Derek Riedel on having student-athletes advance to the NCAA West Regionals:
"We have patiently waited four years for an opportunity to compete at the regional meet for a chance to go to Eugene and now that wait is finally over and we have seven deserving student-athletes going to Sacramento for the NCAA first-rounds! Many of these athletes have been in the program for three or four years, so this selection is especially gratifying for them to see all of their hard work pay off. Now, everyone is on an even playing field. We'll line up next to all of the other top West Region athletes and have the same opportunity to earn a spot in the NCAA finals in Eugene in June. This group is excited, determined, and ready to prove themselves at the national level.
"We also had several people just miss qualifying for regionals:
Garett Cortez, 3/100s in the 1500,
Collin Sepulveda, 3/10s in the 400h,
Tiffani Mays, .15 in the 400 and both 4x100m relays – top 29. That shows this program is ready to send an even larger contingent to regionals in 2019 now that we have the experience and depth to make a splash at the national level."
