Coach Smith named to Indiana’s 2019 Women’s Silver Anniversary team

SAN ANTONIO -- The University of the Incarnate Word head women's basketball coach, Christy Smith, has been named to the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame's 2019 Silver Anniversary Team, it was announced Tuesday. The honor is bestowed on those players who showed outstanding accomplishments as a senior basketball player in Indiana 25 years ago.
 
Smith earned the honor by being named to the 1994 Indiana All-Star team and earning AP second team all-state, ICGSA first team all-state, and academic all-state. She finished her high school career with 1,113 career points and set school records for career assists, single-season assists, career steals and single-season steals. Smith averaged 21.6 points, 5.0 assists, 4.5 steals and 3.4 rebounds as a senior and led the team to a 16-4 record.
 
Following her illustrious high school career, Smith played for Arkansas, where she scored 1,459 points, had 507 assists, 239 steals, a .837 career FT% and a nation-leading .899 FT% (1994-95). She was the 1995 SEC Freshman of the Year, a three-time All-SEC honoree, a four-time honorable mention AP All-American, and a three-time SEC Academic Honor Roll selection.

All Women's Silver Anniversary Team members will be honored at the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame's 18th Annual Women's Awards Banquet on Saturday, April 27, 2019.
