SAN ANTONIO -- Natalia Vega, a junior synchronized swimmer at the University of the Incarnate Word, has been officially named to the 2019 Mixed Duet, announced USA Synchro on Dec. 8. The duet will be comprised of Vega and 39-year-old Bill May.
While on the roster at UIW, Vega was a vital member of the 2017 U.S. National team that competed at the FINA World Championship in Budapest, Hungary. She is a veteran of the National team stretching back to her training as a member of the Santa Clara Aquamaids and the Tonawanda Aquettes, some of the top club teams in the country. Previous to UIW she also competed on the Junior National team.
The Puerto Rico native has also been an integral part of the Cardinals roster for her first two years, racking up points in the Technical and Routine competitions. In the 2018 season she showed her strength and determination while helping her team earn fourth overall, adding points to the board in "A" Technical Elements.
Vega will train and compete alongside another champion and Aquamaid, Bill May. This will make May's fourth duet partner switch in four years, after enjoying successes with his previous three. In World Championship competitions alone, May racked up a gold, two silvers and two bronze medals in Mixed Duet.
