HOW IT HAPPENED
QTR 1 (20-10): Wiggins made it clear from the first possessions that this would be her breakout game. The junior drilled a three on UIW's first offensive possession and followed that by recording a block and a steal in the Cardinals' initial defensive effort. She set the tone for the Cardinals in the opening frame, recording the first 11 Cardinal points on perfect (3 of 3) shooting from distance. The UIW defense was stifling early on, limiting WSU to just 17.6 percent shooting in the quarter.
QTR 2 (35-30): The Wildcat offense found its rhythm in the second quarter, as WSU shot 46.7 percent from the field. UIW countered well with a balanced attack. Six different Cardinals contributed in the frame, led by junior forward
Alexis Henry, who drilled a buzzer-beating three to give her a team-best five points in the quarter and the Cardinals a five-point lead at the break. It was her first three-point attempt as a Cardinal.
QTR 3 (45-54): The third quarter saw WSU take its first lead of the game at the 6:03 mark. They accomplished this through impeccable perimeter play. After UIW held the Wildcats to just 4-14 shooting (28.6 percent), WSU exploded for four threes in less than three minutes of game time to put themselves in front.
Wiggins led the team with five points.
QTR 4 (64-72): The Cardinals responded in the fourth quarter with a furious 14-0 rally spanning nearly five minutes. UIW cut the Wildcat lead to just one point, 61-62, behind some hard-nosed defense from freshman guard
Macy Ray, among others.
Lunden was a force in the paint throughout the run, scoring six of the 14 points. The Cardinals defense forced an impressive six turnovers over the stretch. But all good things must come to an end. WSU cleaned up its act and made critical free-throws down the stretch to secure what would become an eight-point victory.
HEAR FROM COACH SMITH:
"I thought we came out strong, but we have to learn to cut down on our scoring droughts. As a whole, our team is getting better and improving, we just have to learn to put together four complete quarters. We have multiple people who can score 20 points any given night, we just have to find a way to sync up those nights."

UP NEXT
The Cardinals will enjoy their Thanksgiving in San Antonio before going back to Arizona, where they opened the 2018-19 campaign, to play the University of Arizona. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. CT on Nov. 27.
