PULLMAN, Washington -  The University of the Incarnate Word volleyball team fell, 3-0, to the College of Charleston on the final day of the Cougar Challenge Tournament.  

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Cardinals (1-2) started the match with a 25-14 opening-set defeat. UIW's attack struggled to produce as the team was only able to muster seven kills against the Cougars (5-1), while making eight errors.

The Cardinals suffered a 25-16 defeat in the second set. UIW made a slight improvement with 12 kills and five errors; however, the team's efforts were not enough to win over the 13 kills and just four errors made by Charleston.

The Cougars closed things out with a 25-23 set victory in the third. The Cardinals and Charleston each tallied 13 kills, but UIW was unable to climb all the way back.

LEADERS

Offensively, Bryaunea Hall led the team with 9 kills and 3 blocks. Autumn Lockley contributed 8 kills, while Sarea Alexander added five kills and four blocks. Madison Williams paced the team with 26 assists. On defense, Madelyn Miller paced the squad with 15 digs.

Madison Kennedy and McKala Rhodes led the Cougars with 10 kills and 16 digs respectively.

The Cardinals next travel to Houston for the Rice Adidas Invitational I Sept. 8-9.
