SAN ANTONIO, Texas – In an evenly matched contest, The University of the Incarnate Word women's soccer team came out on the wrong end of a 1-0 verdict to visiting Louisiana Tech Tuesday evening from Benson Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
UIW (0-2-0) had several opportunities to score, none better than
Emily Halal's opportunity, where she beat both her defender and Lady Techster (2-0-1) goalkeeper, Faith Washington, but her shot trickled just wide.
The only scoring in the match came off the foot of Mylene Roy-Ouellet in the 61
st minute, as she beat the defender and snuck the ball past Cardinal goalkeeper
Sydney Huntsinger.
The Cardinals had three corner kicks and a shot on goal, but could not get the equalizer. Shots between the two teams were even at nine apiece, while LA Tech held a 3-2 advantage in shots on goal and UIW had six of the eight corner kick opportunities.
LEADERS
Halal and
Ana Rodriguez each had two shots, while Halal,
Isabel Gracia, and
