ABILENE, Texas – The University of the Incarnate Word women's tennis team ended their season with a 6-1 Southland Conference loss to Abilene Christian on Friday at the Eager Tennis Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Wildcats (16-5, 7-2 SLC) came out and took care of business on Friday. They started things off with a win in the doubles competition, getting wins at #1 and #3 and leading at #2 before having to stop that match short.

In singles, the Wildcats won five out of the six matches, but the Cardinals' (5-19, 2-9 SLC) Matea Zemunik made sure to close out the year with an impressive win at #1. Zemunik started off the first set with a 6-4 lead, but ACU's #1 Erin Walker came back to take the second set, 6-3. Due to the match having already been determined, the third set was a first-to-ten tiebreaker. Zemunik bounced back after losing the second set, and took the tiebreaker 10-5 for the lone Cardinal win on Friday.

This was the last match for UIW. They finished the year 5-19 overall, and 2-9 in conference.
