LAFAYETTE, La. – Despite winning the doubles' point, the University of the Incarnate Word women's tennis team dropped a non-conference match, 4-1, to the University of Louisiana Lafayette on Friday at the Cajun Courts.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Cardinals (4-15) lost the first doubles' match at #3 6-3, but
Victoria Kareh and
Sarah Savedra paired up to even up the score with a 6-4 win at #2. With each team winning one match, it all came down to the #1 court where
Matea Zemunik and
Rachel Sadiq were playing were playing the Ragin' Cajuns (7-8). The match got to 6-6, and in the tiebreaker, Zemuni and Sadiq came up with a big 7-5 win to take the match 7-6 and give UIW the first point.
Louisiana wouldn't go away though. They won the first four singles' matches in straight sets to take the 4-1 win.
UP NEXT
The Cardinals will turn right back and play Southeastern Louisiana in a conference match tomorrow, Saturday, at 12 p.m.
