SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Head Coach
Christy Smith and the University of the Incarnate Word women's basketball program announced Tuesday the signing of Macy Ray and Starr Omozee to National Letters of Intent during the early signing period.
"We are very excited about the addition of Starr and Macy," Smith said. "They are exactly what we are looking for in our student-athletes, both on and off the basketball court. Starr will add athleticism and rebounding from the guard position, while Macy's toughness and court vision will be a great addition to our team."

A 5'7'' point guard out of Katy, Texas, Macy Ray played for Katy Taylor High School, where she averaged 12 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists as a junior for the Mustangs. A First Team All-District 19-6A athlete, Ray was coached by former Cardinal Blair Redmon Ary, who played for UIW from 2002-04. Daughter of Gary and Vickie Ray, Macy has college basketball in her blood. Both Mac'ys mother and brother Corbin played for Texas Tech.
"Macy is a high-intensity point guard that can shoot it from deep and defend at an elite level," Smith said. "She is an exceptional student-athlete and we are excited to have her!"

A 5'11'' forward from Pflugerville, Texas, Starr Omozee comes to UIW from Pflugerville High School, where she averaged 12 points, 5 rebounds and 2 steals as a junior for the Panthers. Omozee led her team to a District 13-6A championship and a state semifinals appearance. Daughter of Joseph and Christy Omozee, Starr has three siblings, Joseph, Sylvia and Diana. Her sister Diana played collegiately at Oklahoma State from 2013-17.
"Starr is a high-motor kid with great length and athleticism," Smith said. "She will be able to help us on both ends of the floor. She is a phenomenal teammate and will fit right in."
Ray and Omozee will join the Cardinals for the 2018-19 season as the program looks to continue its upward trajectory under the leadership of Coach Smith and her experienced staff.
UIW is set to host regional foe Texas State at 6 p.m. on Wednesday for the team's home-opener at the McDermott Center.
