CONWAY, Arkansas – The University of the Incarnate Word volleyball team concluded its week of competition on the road with another three set loss. The Cardinals were topped by the University of Central Arkansas 25-13, 25-22, 25-18.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Sugar Bears took an early 3-1 lead to open up the match. The Cardinals soon caught up, but later found themselves behind once again. Central Arkansas went on an eight point streak to take advantage of the set 16-8. The Sugar bears capitalized on UIW errors for an opening set win.
In the second, the Cardinals registered 12 kills and five errors, but Central Arkansas tallied 16 kills and six errors to be more efficient for another victory.
Attack errors recorded by the Sugar Bears had UIW up two points at the beginning of the third. The Cardinals maintained their lead until Central Arkansas got its attack going to even the score 11-11. Eight of the Sugar bears' final points were due to Cardinal errors. UIW finished the match 26 kills while Central Arkansas totaled 37.
LEADERS
Autumn Lockley led the squad with eight kills and
Cameron Edwards followed with six.
Madison Williams paced the Cardinals with 14 assists.
Madelynn Miller tallied two service aces and led the squad defensively with 12 digs.
Sarea Alexander and
Bryaunea Hall both registered two blocks.
Samantha Anderson tallied 17 kills for the Sugar Bears while Alanna Bramwell led the team's defense with six blocks.

The Cardinals will play Stephen F. Austin in the McDermott Center on Thursday, Oct. 12 at 7 p.m.
STAY TUNED
UIW will continue competition on their home court as they take on Lamar University in the battle of the Cardinals. The match will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14.
