PALO ALTO, CALIFORNIA – The University of the Incarnate Word synchronized swimming team traveled to California to compete against Stanford University last weekend and fell short on Friday, 103-46, and Saturday, 93-25.
In Friday's meet, the Cardinals only participated in four events as opposed to six by Stanford. Out of 13 participants in the A Figures,
Beatriz Regly finished in fifth place with a score of 75.8800 and
Camille Guerre took eighth with a score of 74.9300.
In the B figures,
Sarah Cooke competed against four Stanford swimmers and placed fifth with a score of 63.4061.
Regly and Guerre swam together in the duet event and took second place with a score of 78.9333. Cooke would then join them for the trio free routine and they would receive 77.3333 points for third place.
In Saturday's meet, UIW only competed in the duet and trio free routines. Regly and Guerre once again made up the duet for the Cardinals and finished in second place with 80.0333 points. The same Cardinals trio from Friday of Regly, Guerre and Cooke collected 23.6000 points to finish in third place.
Coming up for the Cardinals is a home meet at the Anne Barshop Natatorium where they will host Stanford on Friday and Saturday at 5:00 p.m. and 10:00 a.m., respectively.
