SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word women's tennis team dropped to 0-2 on the season after taking a 6-1 loss against cross-town rival UTSA on Sunday at the Mabry Tennis Center. (Results)

UIW senior Taryn Strahl won both of her matches, but that was all the Cardinals were able to do.  Strahl teamed with Sarah Savedra to defeat Alena Shichkova and Nicole Karaklis, 7-5 at #2 doubles.  Strahl came back to win her singles match in three sets over Charlene Tiwari after dropping the first set 2-6, 6-2, 6-4.

The Roadrunners were able to clinch the match quickly.  They won a hard fought point in doubles, but then won the first four singles matches in straight sets.  UIW's Maria Batchinsky nearly won at #6 singles against Lina Hallgren, but lost 6-2, 3-6, 10-6.

The Cardinals are back in action on February 3 at Texas.
