SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word baseball team will look to extend their current five-game winning streak when they host Southland Conference rival Texas A&M Corpus Christi for a three-game series this weekend. Games are scheduled for Friday at 6:30 p.m., Saturday at 3:00 p.m. and Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

Aaron Warren (Schertz/Wagner HS) received conference player of the week honors after going 9-for-12 in the three games against Central Arkansas last weekend and he is now batting .405 in 37 at bats.
Matt Morris (Scottsdale, AZ/Saguaro HS) is riding an eight-game hitting streak and leads the team in hits (50), doubles (14), walks (22) and is tied for the lead in home runs (4).
Austin Hoffman (Goodyear, AZ/Millenium HS) hit a grand slam last weekend and continues to lead the team in RBI's with 29.
Christian Divelbiss (Yuba City, CA/Yuba City HS) has stepped up for the Cardinals (18-27, 9-15) and has the highest batting average among qualified hitters with a .305 average.
Geno Encina (San Antonio/Brandeis HS) continues to lower his ERA after every start it is now down to 2.13 with a 2-4 record. He has walked only nine batters all year and has struck out 40 batters.
Garret Cooper (Round Rock/McNeil HS) and
Kris Looper (Wharton/Wharton HS) are the probable starters for the rest of the series. Cooper is 5-5 with a 4.45 ERA, while Looper is 3-5 with a 5.15 ERA.
Texas A&M Corpus Christi (21-24, 11-13 SLC) is 8-12 on the road coming into this weekend. They are coming off a series loss to Sam Houston State and they have lost eight of their last 10 games. They are in the middle of a seven-game road trip.
Jordan Lee leads the Islanders with a .335 batting average, 34 runs scored, 58 hits and 10 doubles. Tyler Ware is hitting .302 with a team-high 29 walks. Kyle Danford leads the team in runs batted in with 30 and is hitting .274. As a team, the Islanders are hitting .260 and are averaging 4.7 runs per game.
The Islanders pitching staff has a 3.69 ERA and is led by Trevor Belicek who is 8-3 on the year with a 2.85 ERA. He has struck out 100 batters and only walked 15 in 72.2 innings. Matt Danton has a team-best 2.17 ERA and has two complete games but is only 3-6 on the year.
