HAMMOND, LOUISIANA – The University of the Incarnate Word softball team continues their long road trip this weekend when they travel to Southland Conference rival Southeastern Louisiana for a three-game series on Saturday and Sunday.

The games were originally scheduled to be played on Friday and Saturday, but wet conditions forced a postponement.  The teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 3 p.m. and the final game will be played on Sunday at noon.

The Cardinals (3-17, 0-3) have yet to play a home game this season and are 0-6 in true road games.  The team is hitting .236 and is scoring less than three runs per game.  Danielle Ramirez (San Antonio/Marshall HS) leads the team with a .375 batting average, but has been hampered by injuries in recent weeks.  Shelbi Swenson (Elgin/Elgin HS) is the hottest hitter on the team and has raised her average to .283 with a pair of home runs.  Alex Alonzo (San Antonio/Smithson Valley HS) is hitting at a .294 clip with three doubles and eight RBI's.  Kristin Hebert (Humble/Atascocita HS) is the top pitcher on the team with a 2-6 record and a 5.55 ERA.

Southeastern Louisiana is 7-13 on the season with a 2-1 record in the Southland Conference.  They are hitting .315 as a team and scoring more than five runs per game.  Katie Lacour is hitting .486 with a team high 21 runs scored.  Amber Sather and Sydney Booker are the team's two best power hitters.  Sather has four home runs and 10 RBI's in just 39 at bats.  Booker has six doubles, two triples, five homers and 25 RBI's.  The pitching staff has a 5.51 ERA and opponents are hitting over .300 against them.  Taylor Bishop is 5-3 with a 3.02 ERA in 48.2 innings pitched.

The Cardinals had to travel to Southeastern Louisiana last year and they were swept in the three game series.  The Lions won 11-5, 5-4 in nine innings and 11-1.
