NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word men's basketball team travels to Southland Conference rival Stephen F. Austin in the hopes of evening the season series. The game tips off at 7 p.m. at the Johnson Coliseum.
The Cardinals (17-8, 9-6) are averaging over 81 points per game and shooting 47.4 percent from the field for the season. Senior
Denzel Livingston (Houston/Waltrip HS) is third in the nation in scoring at 22.4 points per game and is also averaging 6.0 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 2.6 steals per game.
Kyle Hittle (New Braunfels/New Braunfels HS) is averaging 15.7 points and 6.4 rebounds per game and has knocked down 54 three-pointers this year. Freshman
Jontrell Walker (Aurora, IL/West Aurora HS) is scoring over 15 points per game, has made 44 three-pointers and leads the conference in foul shooting at 85.4 percent.
The Lumberjacks (24-4, 14-1) are in first place in the conference and have scored over 100 points in each of their past two games. Thomas Walkup and Jacob Parker are the top two players on the team. Walkup averages 15.1 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game while shooting 57.5 percent from the field. Parker is putting up 14.4 points and 5.4 rebounds per game and has made 49 three-pointers.
The Lumberjacks defeated the Cardinals, 90-76 in San Antonio two weeks ago. Livingston had 30 points for UIW and Walkup scored 28 for SFA in that contest.
