PRAIRIE VIEW, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word baseball team will play their first road game of the season on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Prairie View A&M.
The Cardinals (1-2) went 1-2 in their first series of the season over the weekend.
Matt Morris (Scottsdale, AZ/Saguaro HS) led the UIW hitting attack with a .455 batting average, two home runs and three RBI's against Northeastern University.
Ethan McGill (Penn Valley, CA/Nevada Union HS) posted a .300 batting average with a pair of doubles.
The UIW defense was outstanding over their first weekend making only one error while turning a pair of double plays. The pitching staff took advantage of the strong defense behind them and they got three quality starts over the first weekend.
Brandon Anderson (Cheyenne, WY/Cheyenne Central HS),
Garret Cooper (Round Rock/McNeil HS) and
Cody Richey (Comfort/Comfort HS) each tossed at least 6.0 innings while allowing two or fewer runs.
The Panthers (0-3) were swept by Houston Baptist on the road in their season opening series.
