Synchro Loses to Defending Champs

ST. PETER, MISSOURI – The University of the Incarnate Word synchronized swim team opened up their season on the road at defending national champion Lindenwood University and lost 93-58. (Solo, Duet, Trio, Team)

The Cardinals won the opening round of elements on Friday, but could not hold onto the lead on Saturday.  The Lions came back by winning the Solo, Duet, Trio and Team routines.

The Cardinals were led by Sydney Sprinkle in the Solo.  She finished in second place overall with 81.17 points, 8.6 behind the winner of the event, Mary Killman.  Beatriz Regly was third in the Solo routine.  Sarah Cooke and Regly teamed up in the Duets and earned 77.33 points, just 8.9 behind the leaders.

Katy Wiita joined Cooke and Regly in the Trio competition.  They finished in third place with 79.5 points.

The Cardinals go back on the road next weekend to Gainesville, Florida to take on the University of Florida.
