Kyle Hittle (New Braunfels/New Braunfels HS) who had 18 points and six rebounds. Junior
Derail Green (Houston/Klein Forest HS) nearly had a double-double with 14 points, nine rebounds and three blocks.
Cardinals and Mountaineers are long-time rivals. They first recorded meeting was in 1987 when both schools were members of the NAIA. UIW has a 31-6 all-time record against Schreiner. The last time the two teams met was on November 30, 2007 when the Cardinals won, 79-71 at home.
The Mountaineers opened their season on Saturday against Hardin-Simmons and lost, 76-70. Christian Pena and Wes Miller each had 14 points in the loss. The game on Monday will count as an exhibition game for Schreiner.
