LAS CRUCES, NEW MEXICO – The University of the Incarnate Word men's golf team never got things going at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate hosted by New Mexico State on Monday and Tuesday at the New Mexico State Golf Course and finished in 14th place. (

The Cardinals posted a 307-296-311=914 on the 7,242-yard, par-71 layout. Senior
Austin Wylie (New Braunfels/New Braunfels HS) was the team's top finisher with a 225 that including a 78 in the final round. He finished in a tie for 43
rd place. Senior
Myles Dumont (Eagle Lake/Rice Consolidated HS) was the top player for the Cardinals in the final round of the 54-hole tournament with a 3-over par 74 and he finished one shot behind Wylie overall.
UTEP won the team title by 17 strokes with a 2-over par 854 ahead of Grand Canyon who came in with 871 strokes. Wichita State (875) finished in third place and they were followed by Lamar (876), Colorado State (876), New Mexico State (877), Sam Houston State (884), Odessa College (885), Stephen F. Austin (888), Northern Illinois (892), UT Arlington (893), UT Rio Grande Valley (896), Western New Mexico (902) and UIW (914).
Lamar's Mans Berglund was the individual champion with a 72-66-71=209 to finish at 4-under par for the tournament. UTEP's Frederik Dreier was the runner-up three strokes back and Grant Bennett of Wichita State was third four shots back.
The Cardinals close out the fall portion of their schedule next week at The Classic at The Tribute hosted by Texas A&M-Commerce.
