Cardinals Return Home

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word men's basketball team returns to the McDermott Center on Monday for a Southland Conference game against McNeese State at 7 p.m.

The Cardinals (10-5, 2-3) have the #2 scoring team in the nation at 85.4 points per game and have won two of their last three conference games.  Senior Denzel Livingston (Houston/Waltrip HS) leads the Southland and is second in the nation with 22.9 points per game and he is also averaging 6.1 points, 3.3 assists and 2.5 steals per game.  Freshman Jontrell Walker (Aurora, IL/West Aurora HS) is scoring 17.3 points per game and shooting 45.4 percent from the field.  Kyle Hittle (New Braunfels/New Braunfels HS) is putting up 15.4 points and 6.6 rebounds per game while shooting 48.5 percent from three-point range.

The Cowboys (7-10, 1-5) have struggled so far in conference play, but are only 1-6 on the road this season.  Desharick Guidry has been one of the top mid-major players in the nation this year with 17.1 points and 11.6 rebounds per game.  He is ranked in the top five in the nation in rebounding.  Kevin Hardy is averaging 12.4 points and 6.9 rebounds per game.  Austin Lewis protects the basket for the team and leads the conference with 40 blocks on the season.

Last year, the Cowboys defeated the Cardinals, 87-72 in Lake Charles, LA.  This is the first time the two teams have ever played in San Antonio.
