Women's Soccer to Appear on Longhorn Network

AUSTIN, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word women's soccer team travels to the University of Texas on Friday for an exhibition game at 7:30 p.m. at the Mike A. Myers Stadium and Soccer Field.

The game will be broadcast on the Longhorn Network with Monica Gonzalez and Glenn Davis on the call.  Lincoln Rose will be doing the audio broadcast that is free via texas.leanplayer.com.

The Cardinals are in their first year under the direction of Anne Felts who was the top assistant each of the past two years under former head coach Tina Patterson.  UIW went 10-6-3 in 2013, the program's first as a member of NCAA Division I and the Southland Conference.  The returning players to the program combined for 139 starts in 2013.  Midfielder Abigail Koenigs (San Antonio/Brandeis HS) is the top returning scorer with seven goals and an assist as a true freshman.  The goalkeeping duo of Heather Kowalik (Boerne/Champion HS) and Karly Brightwell (Houston/Elkins HS) combined for seven shutouts.

The Longhorns went 12-6-2 in 2013 and did not allow more than two goals in a game.  They finished third in the Big 12 during the regular season, but lost in the first round of the Big 12 Tournament.
