HAMMOND, LOUISIANA – The University of the Incarnate Word softball team hits the road for their first Southland Conference road trip this weekend when they go to Southeastern Louisiana for a three game series. They play on Friday at 6 p.m. and a doubleheader on Saturday at noon.
The Cardinals (14-18, 3-3) have been strong on offense for most of the season. They are hitting .297 with a .424 slugging percentage. The team has six players who have at least 50 at bats that are hitting over .300 led by
Brooke DuBois (Pearland/Pearland HS) who has a .380 average and a .600 slugging percentage. Alex Alonzo (San Antonio/Smithson Valley HS) boasts a .319 average with a team high 21 runs batted in.
The UIW pitching staff has a 5.20 earned run average.
Mikaela Flores (Lockhart/Lockhart HS) has been the top pitcher with a 5-0 record and a 4.17 ERA.
Kristin Hebert (Humble/Atascocita HS) is 5-6 with a 4.54 ERA.
The Lions (10-17, 3-9) have not hit as well as the Cardinals this year with a .245 batting average, but they have a lower team earned run average, 4.34. Amanda Livaudais is hitting .381 while Katie Lacour has a .325 average with a team high 16 runs. The Lions have used six different pitchers this year and Spencer Adkinson leads the group with a 2.33 ERA.
