PRAIRIE VIEW, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word softball team looks to recover from a tough series loss to McNeese State as they head to Prairie View A&M University for a midweek double header on Wednesday at 2 p.m.
The Cardinals (16-24) are hitting .282 as a team, and despite losing two out of three games against McNeese State, are looking good at the plate. Freshman
Mikaela Flores remains the top hitter on the team with a .404 average and is slugging .596.
Brooke DuBois and
Whitney Waltrip are both hitting at least .345 at the plate.
On the mound, the Cardinals are posting a 5.30 earned run average with Kristen Hebert leading the pitching staff. She is 6-7 record with a 4.10 earned run average.
The Panthers (7-23) are hitting .271 as a team and is led by Brenicia Woods, who is hitting .391 in 87 at bats. She also leads the team with runs scored with a total of 26. Following close behind is Samantha Arciba who is hitting .375 while Alissa Navarro is hitting .317 with 15 runs, 26 hits and a team high of 24 RBI's.
The Panthers have struggled on the mound this year with a team ERA of 8.60 and at least three of their main pitching staff posting an ERA above 7.00. The main pitching efforts are led by Cally Falls who has a total of 63.2 innings pitched with an ERA of 7.26 and a 4-6 record. Monica Cartwright has an ERA of 7.14 and a 2-6 record after pitching a total of 34.1 innings.
