SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word softball team is back in action on Friday at 2 p.m. for a doubleheader with Prairie View A&M at Cardinals Field.  Following the doubleheader, children ages 12 and under will be able to get autographs from all the Cardinals players.

The Cardinals (9-10) are hitting .306 as a team this year with a 5.13 earned run average.  Whitney Waltrip (Orangevale, CA/Casa Robles HS) leads the team with a .462 batting average in 26 at bats.  Alex Alonzo (San Antonio/Smithson Valley HS) has a .346 batting average and leads the team with six doubles, two homers and 15 runs batted in.  Danielle Ramirez (San Antonio/Marshall HS) is the top base stealer with eight swipes on the year.  Mikaela Flores (Lockhart/Lockhart HS) leads the pitching staff with a 5-0 record, a 2.60 ERA and 36 strike outs.

The Lady Panthers (0-5) are looking for their first win of the season and have had a number of games cancelled due to the weather.  They have a .221 batting average and a 10.03 earned run average as a team.  Brenicia Woods is hitting .412 while Cally Falls is the leading pitcher with a 6.84 ERA in 14.1 innings.
