SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word softball team will be in action on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Cardinals Field against UH-Victoria.

The Cardinals (11-13) are coming off a nice win at St. Edward's on Wednesday and will try to get back to .500 on the season if they can sweep the doubleheader against the Jaguars.  UIW is hitting .298 on the season and have seven players with at least 30 at bats who are hitting over .300.

Senior Whitney Waltrip (Orangevale, CA/Casa Robles HS) leads UIW with a .457 batting average and has driven in 12 runs.  She has also walked seven times while only striking out once on the season.  Brooke DuBois (Pearland/Pearland HS) leads the team with a .694 slugging percentage.

In the pitching circle, freshman Mikaela Flores (Lockhart/Lockhart HS) has been the Cardinals' best pitcher.  She is 5-0 with a 2.86 earned run average and leads the team with 41 strikeouts in 36.2 innings.

The Jaguars are 11-8 on the season and are hitting .329 as a team.  Rachel Laird has been the team's most productive offensive player with a .492 batting average, 22 runs and 20 stolen bases.  Marley Moehrig leads the team with three homers and 20 runs batted in.

The team has a 2.68 earned run average led by Megan Carter.  She is 4-0 with a 1.14 ERA in 24.2 innings of work.  Alex Holland has been the most used pitcher and she sports a 4-5 record with a 2.00 ERA in 42.0 innings or work.
