VICTORIA, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word softball team heads to UH-Victoria for a non-conference doubleheader on Friday that begins at 4 p.m.

The Cardinals (8-7) are hitting .316 as a team and averaging nearly six runs per game.  Freshman Alex Alonzo (San Antonio/Smithson Valley HS) leads the everyday players with a .400 batting average, four doubles, two home runs and 13 runs batted in.  Freshman Kellen Robles (San Antonio/Smithson Valley HS) is hitting .359 and leads the team with 12 runs scored and six stolen bases.  In a part-time role, senior Whitney Waltrip (Orangevale, CA/Casa Robles HS) is hitting .550 in 20 at bats and has driven in seven runs.

Freshman Mikaela Flores (Lockhart/Lockhart HS) has been the Cardinals top pitcher with a 4-0 record and 2.96 ERA.  She has struck out 29 batters in 26.0 innings.  The team has a 5.60 ERA and has 67 strikeouts in 95.0 innings.

The Jaguars (5-5) are hitting .318 as a team and are scoring 5.4 runs per game.  Alex Holland and Marley Moehrig are each hitting over .400 with 11 RBI's apiece.  Megan Carter has been the top pitcher on the team this year with a 0.00 ERA in 11.2 innings.  She has tossed two shutouts.
