Box Score 2 EL PASO, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word softball team was dealt a pair of 8-run rule losses on Sunday to New Mexico State and UTEP at the Helen of Troy Softball Complex.
In the first game, the Cardinals (8-7) managed just two hits in the 6-inning loss.
Brooke DuBois fell to 3.1 on the season after allowing seven hits and five runs in 3.1 innings.
The Aggies (10-5) had 12 hits in the game and belted five doubles and a home run. Tatum Reedy was 2-for-2 with a home run and two RBI's while Staci Rodriguez had two hits and drove in three. Celisha Walker tossed a shutout allowing just two hits and no walks in 6.0 innings.
In the game with the Miners (6-9), the only bright spot was a second inning solo home run by
Shelby Waltrip (Orangevale, CA/Casa Robles HS). Otherwise, the Cardinals managed just three hits off Taylor Grohmann who struck out six batters.
Kristin Hebert was tabbed with the loss after allowing seven hits and two earned runs in 3.0 innings.
The Cardinals are back in action on Wednesday at Texas State at 6 p.m.
