STEPHENVILLE, TEXAS – The University of the Incarnate Word women's tennis team traveled to Lone Star Conference rival Tarleton State on Friday and lost, 7-2 at Potishman-Lard Tennis Courts. (Results)

The match was originally scheduled for Saturday, but was moved up a day due to potential weather hazards.  The Cardinals (8-8, 1-3) struggled against the #17 TexAnns (9-8, 3-1) for most of the day.

Nicole Karaklis and Malisa Vatanadilok were able to grab an 8-4 win at #2 doubles over Melanie Barnes and Ivana Zecevic, but it was the only doubles victory for UIW.

Karaklis picked up a second victory at #3 singles with a tough 7-6, 7-6 win over Zecevic.  Taryn Strahl and Jennifer Betancourt both won their first set, but were unable to win their matches.
