CARDINALS HANGING ON IN TOP 25

Last week was difficult for Incarnate Word's men's basketball team but the Cardinals managed to hang on to a slot in the nation's top 25 teams as judged by the National Association of Basketball Coaches.

The latest poll has the Cardinals slotted in at number 21 after being 16th a week ago. UIW first broke into the top 25 in mid-December and have been listed for seven consecutive weeks. The highest ranking came January 4 when Incarnate Word was number nine.

In the past seven days the Cardinals, because of bad weather conditions, played but one game.

The other Lone Star Conference team voted into the rankings is Central Oklahoma which is number eight with a season mark of 19-2. One of those losses was to Incarnate Word the first week of December.
